A CDN (content delivery network) is a network of computers that makes content – when requested – everywhere available. More specifically, CDNs consist of a group of servers that are geographically positioned between the origin server that provides web content and the user requesting it.
This way, and by reducing latency, requested content can be delivered faster. The servers which are closer to the users, also called PoPs or points of presence, cache the cacheable content, which takes away a lot of the load from the origin server.

HOW TO BEST
TAKE ADVANTAGE OF CDN
Benefit from the proficiency of an experienced developer
With Davies Meyer, you benefit from a long-standing experience in designing, building, deploying and running various CDN-powered websites for different clients.
Availability of content everywhere and at all time
Many CDNs cache a website’s “last alive” state to make information available everywhere and anytime. Even if the origin server is failing, the content is still accessible to users through the CDNs, allowing for stable processing until the errors at the source have been fixed.
Customisation of CDNs to perfectly meet individual needs
We’ll evaluate the right partner for you – like Amazon or Google – and set up your environment accordingly to your needs. As a first step, we can also create a highly dynamic content concept for you and make it available through a hosting environment like a CMS.
Hosting
CDNs can be hosted on all standard web servers, virtual servers or cloud solutions like the Google Cloud Platform.
