Hamburg Craft Award 2022 with Haspa – Six Winners, Six Showcase Films

Background and Challenge

Sparks fly, shavings fall, pliers creak – behind every craft there is passion, skill, and unique stories. Hamburger Sparkasse (Haspa) and the Hamburg Chamber of Crafts annually honor the region's finest craft businesses and artisans with the Haspa Craftsmanship Award. The challenge was to provide a platform for six finalists from two categories that truly reflects their expertise and dedication. The goal was to authentically portray both the craftsmanship mastery and the people behind it, making their work accessible to a broad audience.

Approach and Realization

Six unique showcase films were created through a comprehensive production approach. From initial concept development through interview design to final post-production, every step was carefully crafted. Cinematographic camera work showcased the artisanal work in premium quality while capturing the personal stories of the protagonists. Additionally, an atmospheric teaser video was created for social media, introducing all finalists with evocative footage and announcing the public voting. Close collaboration with the craft businesses enabled authentic insights into their daily work routines.

Results

The six showcase films received enthusiastic reception both online and at the grand award ceremony. The audience – including the featured craft businesses themselves – honored the films with abundant applause and enthusiasm. The businesses proudly shared their portraits on their own channels, increasing their reach and visibility. The project not only created high-quality content for Hamburger Sparkasse but most importantly brought radiant and proud smiles to the artisans who finally received the recognition they deserve.
