    Prompt Engineering

Prompt engineering is the deliberate design and evaluation of inputs to AI models. Instructions, context, examples and output formats describe a task. Prompting uses an existing model; it does not train its parameters.

    Prompt Engineering explained

A useful prompt starts with a clear task. copy may need an , message, approved product facts, format and tone. Those requirements must fit together. An elaborate role description cannot replace reliable facts or a strong creative idea.

Then compare results. Which drafts communicate clearly? Where does the system break requirements, invent claims or produce interchangeable wording? Evaluate prompt versions across several suitable tasks. One excellent result does not demonstrate reliable quality.

Examples can clarify style or structure, but must fit the task and avoid introducing invented product benefits. “Do not invent anything” is not a technical guarantee. Evidence checking and approval remain part of the workflow.

In Creative Engineering, prompting helps translate creative intent into a clear production step. Judge quality and total effort through a usable result. We take responsibility for the concept and quality.

    Examples

    Hypothetical application

A team develops three advertising variants from the same approved facts. The prompt specifies the message, and format and requests different creative approaches. Editors compare ideas, clarity and factual faithfulness, then develop the strongest draft.

    Key Points

    • Specify the task and approved information clearly.
    • Compare prompt versions on several tasks.
    • Review outputs instead of treating instructions as guarantees.

    Practical application

Define a small set of typical tasks and quality criteria, then compare prompt changes against them.

    Useful measures

    Quality criteria met

Assess brand fit, clarity, facts and format together.

    Effort through approval

    Include selection, editing and review.

    Common mistakes

    • Assessing only particularly successful answers.
    • Equating longer instructions with better quality.
